Lots of Fun, Day After Day

Lots of FunThe typical Androscoggin day is just a part of the program. Beyond the list of land and water sports and individual activities, there are special events and excursions throughout the summer. Whether it’s a nature hike, a water carnival, afternoon canoe trips or campfires by the tee-pee, every age group enjoys activities planned specifically for them.

The fun and activity continues every evening, with choices ranging from sports, leagues and movies to trips to the Wayne General Store and weekly all-camp events.

Even rain doesn't slow us down. The Foster Fieldhouse, our indoor gym built in 1999, is a perfect site for basketball, street hockey and a host of other rainy day games. We also plan skits in the Playhouse, projects in the Art Center, activities in the Dining Hall and trips to the local bowling alleys and ice and roller skating rinks. Whatever the weather, there is always plenty to keep the boys busily happy.

Trips and Travels

canoe.jpg (41015 bytes)Androscoggin offers an extensive program of hiking, biking, and canoeing trips. All trips are designed to build camping skills and foster a lifelong appreciation of nature.

Every boy has a chance to learn for himself why the Maine woods and waterways have captivated everyone who has ever experienced them, while strengthening his sense of self-reliance and accomplishment -- the essence of a traditional Maine boy’s camp.

Every camper takes at least one extended overnight trip during the summer, ranging from a two-day hiking trip for 8-year-olds to an 8-day canoe trip on the Allagash Waterway for 15-year-olds.

Campers will also explore Bar Harbor, climb Mt. Katahdin, go whitewater rafting on the Kennebec River, and visit Montreal. In addition, boys enjoy weekly day trips to points throughout the state. Every excursion is fun, memorable, safe, planned down to the last detail.

Androscoggin also offers an exciting intercamp program for interested campers. Every age group has teams in every land sport, which compete with other camps in the area. We also have teams in archery, riflery, swimming and sailing. With teams for each age group, every boy has the opportunity to take part –or decide not to – without any pressure.
