Newsletter: Form Letter 1
31 March 2010
Hope you enjoyed a wonderful and restful holiday and New Year. A distant memory, we imagine, now that you’re back to the hectic routine of school, after school, sports, etc. A little hard to believe it’s already January. All that means is that camp will be here before we know it, and we are excited to enclose the first mailing in preparation for Andro 2010.

CAMP DATES

Opening Date Thursday, June 24th
Closing Date Saturday, August 14th
Visiting Dates Friday, July 23rd or Saturday, July 24th
Father-Son Saturday - Monday, August 14th – 16th

As our returning families know, the end of July is a busy time in our area, and we imagine most of you have already made your Visiting Day arrangements. If not, we suggest you do so soon. You can find a list of local accommodations in the parent section of our website. Please plan to visit on only one day unless there are brothers at camp. If you plan to fly, Portland is your best bet. The Portland Airport is about 1-1/4 hours from camp. There is also an airport in Augusta, which is about 20 minutes from camp.

CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT

The Clöz Company is, once again, our official camp outfitters. Clöz will be traveling extensively starting in February, and their schedule is located in the front of the catalogue. In addition to their road show, they will have their own “store within a store” at Lester’s in Manhattan, Rye and Long Island, NY. You can also order by phone, fax or on the Andro section of their website at www.cloz.com.

Please be sure to read Clöz’s policy concerning the time it takes to complete an order. While their normal delivery time is 2 to 3 weeks, it could be longer. We encourage you to place your order early enough to avoid the need for Clöz to ship items directly to camp and, in any event, well before the end of April.

Required Uniform – Each camper should have 8 Androscoggin t-shirts, 6 shorts, 1 sweatshirt and 1 jacket. The grey shirts for Juniors and the white shirts for Seniors are available in 100% cotton and Under Armour versions. There are several styles of shorts and sweatshirts to choose from and 2 types of jackets. All other Androscoggin items included in the catalogue are optional.
Non-uniform Clothing - Campers are allowed to wear non-uniform sweatpants and baseball caps. Campers should also bring one or two non-uniform shirts and shorts for Thursday night cook-outs and Sunday night buffets and for other special events. As for footwear, each boy should have 2 pairs of sneakers, one pair of cleats and one pair of water shoes. While sandals are fine for the Andro campus, boys must also have Teva-type water shoes for their trips and for boating activities on our lake.

Additional clothing for trips – In addition to at least one of the Under Armour t-shirts, boys will need a long-sleeve fleece and a rain jacket. While hiking boots are not required, boys are welcome to bring a pair.

Equipment - We ask each camper to bring a tennis racquet, baseball glove and shin guards. Your son will also need three blankets, a pillow and a sleeping bag. We provide towels daily and sheets and pillowcases weekly, so it is not necessary to send any towels or linens. Finally, your son will need 2 duffels. The cargo bag in the catalogue is a great item to transport gear to and from camp. We suggest that the second duffel be a smaller style. A cargo bag and a small duffel will be more than adequate to accommodate all your son’s clothing and equipment, and the duffel can be used for your son’s overnight trips during the summer.

MEDICATION

This summer we will again be working with Kidsmedpacks, the company we use for pre-packaged medication. If your son will be taking any medication in pill form, whether on a daily or as needed basis, it must be packaged by Kidsmedpacks’ licensed pharmacy. Working with Kidsmedpacks helps ensure that we dispense the proper medications at the correct time of day and that all medications arrive at camp prior to the start of the season. As with your clothing order, we encourage you to take care of this early.

Look for the 2010 version of the Parent Handbook in early March. It will include all the information you’ll need to get ready for June 24th, including details about travel to camp, shipping duffels, medical forms and Kidsmedpacks.

Of course, don’t hesitate to call between now and then if you have any questions.

Our best to your sons.
